Mary's Buttery Brittle Blanks

What in the world is a "Blank"?  And why are they Mary's?  A blank is the brittle goodness without the nuts involved.  Sometimes we just leave those nuts behind and visit without them. Blanks were originally the end scrapings of the brittle pot after all of the nuts fell out.  The Head Brittle Maker's biggest cheerleader and friend absolutely LOVES nut free brittle shenanigans.   Mary also loves a nut filled shenanigan but is partial to the nut free variety. For years the Head Brittle Maker would put aside the end scrapings of the pot for Mary and send them off when they became a large enough force to mark their own place at the table. And one day the Head Brittle Maker forgot to put the nuts in the oven when making the brittle goo.  What to do with so much brittle goo without the toasty nuts (trust the Brittle Maker, you MUST toast the nuts in order to create the ultimate brittle!)
